The Job

We have an exciting opportunity available for a highly motivated and accomplished individual to make a significant contribution to our elite Human Performance outcomes across our professional football teams as the Head of Performance.

Reporting to the Director of Football and working closely with the coaching and medical teams, you will be accountable for the delivery and development of the Human Performance function in line with the Melbourne City Football Club and broader City Football Group strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership of the Human Performance team and functions at Melbourne City FC, to include,

Management of a high performing and sustainable servicing model, to deliver Human Performance (Medical and associated Sport Sciences) advice and training, against the strategic brief of Melbourne City FC. Oversee and maintain the delivery standards of support by Melbourne City FC Human Performance staff in relation to the above demands through an appropriate combination of observation, performance tracking and review, staff training and development. Supporting the above, lead and manage all Human Performance operations including; budget, organisational structure, staff performance management, disciplinary actions, and legal / reputational management.

Integrate Human Performance as part of the Melbourne City FC Football Management team and build a holistic view of football performance, to include,

Continual development of the strategic plan for player development relating to athletic support and health. This will include research and development opportunities as well as development of support networks and player support programs. Provide clear and updated reports on player status in real time to appropriate members of the football management team. Participate in and contribute to the daily, weekly, monthly and annual planning of training and development work for all players. Participate in and contribute to discussions relating to player succession planning in relation to Human Performance factors.

Delivery of a high-performance environment that maximises the potential of every player, to include,

The regular screening and assessment of all players, building and delivery of individual maintenance and development plans that complement the team training requirements. Oversight of all player data, to allow for appropriate analysis, education and case review as well as the monitoring and assessment of program design and player development strategies. Finding relative solutions to the performance needs of team and individual players from within the CFG network. The management and upkeep of standards and principles relating to player peak performance.

Required Quals, Experience & Attributes

Qualified and Registered Physiotherapy status, Msc in sports medicine, physiotherapy, sports science or a closely related area Experience working with groups of athletes within a high-performance environment. Experience in working independently and as an integral part of a team. A philosophy, ethics and attitude in line with Melbourne City FC. Understanding of sport culture and organisations, including working with interns and volunteers. Experience in staff management with the ability to make clear, consistent and decisive leadership decisions. Ability to have a clear sense of purpose to drive action and inspire innovation amongst staff. Setting and meeting clear targets and managing staff to achieve high performance outcomes. Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meets deadlines and manages time effectively. Reliable, positive team player with proven integrity and discretion. Your own transport and hold a current Driver's Licence. Flexible with a willingness to work weekends and travel with the team. Current Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
