About the role
The Learn to Swim Captain will support the Head of Aquatics to deliver the day-to-day operation of the Learn to Swim Program and lead the Swim Teacher team.
The Learn to Swim Captain will require a vast and extensive knowledge of the Learn to Swim program and all that it entails, including the technical knowledge on how to teach stroke development and water safety. The Learn to Swim Captain will also be responsible for monitoring program needs through the use of customer management systems (LINKS) to optimise program growth, as well as providing valuable training and resources to develop Swim Teachers to perform to a high standard.
Additionally, they will focus on enhancing the customer experience by promptly responding to customer enquiries and regularly engaging with parents and students. They will have a relentless focus on Learn to Swim member acquisition and retention. The Learn to Swim Captain will play a vital role in delivering an exceptional Learn to Swim program, that is compliant with all industry standards, including the implementation of Watch Around Water. They will take a collaborative approach to decision making and program innovation, to ensure we achieve the highest levels of health and safety on the pool deck through rigorous and continuous training, reporting, and education. The Learn to Swim Captain will also support the Schools and Programs Captain with the delivery of the School Swimming Program.
This position will work relentlessly to implement the Aligned Leisure purpose of CONNECTING TO THRIVE AND WIN, values of AWARE, DISCIPLINED, RELENTLESS and UNITED, and associated behaviours throughout the entire team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily operations of the Learn to Swim Program
- Learn to Swim member satisfaction and engagement

- Member of the Leadership Team
- Outstanding service delivery to all customers and stakeholders
The Learn to Swim Captain will undertake regular Swim Captain and Swim Teacher shifts. The Learn to Swim Captain will also be required for swim teacher cover shifts and tasks relating to school groups. This will include a regular Saturday shift each week.
They, will from time to time, be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Head of Aquatics.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
- Teacher of Infants and Pre School
- Assessor qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Working with Children Check
- 2 years industry experience
- Experience in using Links CRM system is preferred but not essential
