Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Reporting to the Backfill & Services Superintendent, as Senior Service Crew you will assist coordinate activities of Paste fill, mine services, shotcreting and specified capital and operating projects. You will also be responsible to help manage the underground mining crews and be able to take on supervisor duties for shift coverage as required.

• Display a high level of knowledge and proficiency in organising paste fill infrastructure installation and underground mining operations.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all task instructions & procedures ensuring that these are consistently adhered to in the operation of the mine.
• Actively assist coordinate with Underground Mining Services' team to ensure required assistance is provided to achieve the mine plan.
• Daily organising and management of the Shotcreting team
• Actively undertake regular stock takes of inventory/material (paste pipes, valves, cement, etc.)
• Undertake tasks as instructed or directed by Superintendent Backfill/Services and Senior Project Engineer (operations)
• Supervise and deliver Shotcrete targets and testing requirements.

• Extensive experience working in underground mining with previous leading hand experience (highly regarded)
• Lead a team through their day to day operations and provide a high level of experience and knowledge in training to other crew members
• Demonstrate a high level of trouble shooting / problem solving skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively within the Mining Department and key stakeholders including other Departments and Business Partners.
• A sound knowledge underground mining practices and an advanced standard of safety awareness and work ethic.
• Motivated to move your team forward and provide continual support to all team members.
