Hillsdon Kindergarten ("Hillsdon") is a not-for-profit community kindergarten (Affiliated with Lady Gowrie Qld) that has been providing a play based early childhood program for over sixty years.

Operated by a management committee, Hillsdon has a dedicated and stable team of experienced professionals who work together to provide a modern education with old-school values.

Hillsdon currently operates as a triple unit centre offering sessional kindergarten, pre-kindergarten programs and outside hours care and vacation care.

Hillsdon is situated in an amazing location with some ~6,000 sqm of land, half of which can be accessed by the children to explore their local environment.

We are currently seeking a dedicated, passionate team player to undertake the role of Director / Service Manager. This role will commence in Term 3 of 2023.


As Director / Service Manager, the successful applicant will be the Nominated Supervisor at the Service and manage the day-to-day operations of the Service.

Hillsdon Kindergarten is committed to the ongoing professional development of all staff and engages in regular professional learning supported by external leadership consultants.

Key Criteria

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated excellence in forming on-going professional relationships with families and stakeholders from the Service Community.

Demonstrated ability to provide and document a high quality, play based early childhood program.

A commitment to best practice.

A current understanding of National Quality Framework, Early Childhood Education and Care Legislation and the Assessment and Rating Process.

Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline.

Demonstrated leadership skills, mentoring of staff and collaboration with colleagues from the ECEC Sector.

A commitment to ongoing professional learning and personal growth; and

Demonstrated ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and make decisions.

The successful applicant will also have:
Completed Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or equivalent (recognised by ACECQA as an early childhood teaching qualification).

Registration with Queensland College of Teachers.

Minimum four years experience working in a Director / Service Manager role.

A current Blue Card / Exemption Card.

Current first aid/CPR including asthma and anaphylaxis.

Ability to oversee and implement quality curricula.

Work in partnership with children and families.

Develop strong partnerships with the broader community; and

Manage the day-to-day operation of the business requirements.
