Role Description


Mission Data Division (MD) within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), will deliver cutting edge capabilities to Defence through a variety of different programs and projects.

To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for a number of Program Managers to oversee projects under limited direction.


The Program Managers will be responsible for delivering a set of business outcomes through multiple projects and related support teams in a rapidly changing business environment.

The incumbents will provide direction to a highly motivated workforce consisting of both APS employees and Contractors in order to achieve strategy driven business outcomes within the defined time, cost, quality and scope constraints.

  • Demonstrated Program Management experience in a Managing Successful Programs (MSP) or similar formal governance framework.
  • Strong project management skills with at least ten years of experience in managing projects.

  • Establish program governance and reporting processes within the agreed framework to enable the Executive to make timely decisions on the key areas affecting schedule, cost and quality.
  • Develop, implement and manage the Program Delivery Plan which delivers capabilities required to enable the organisational strategic vision.
  • Manage project level risks and issues escalated to the program by supervisors, peers, business stakeholders and/or project managers.
  • Author and present Executive level information and decision briefs on Program and project issues as required.
  • Chair meetings and boards (and associated responsibilities).
  • Manage program resources based on priorities, budget, risk and Executive direction.
  • Develop and manage the Program financial management plan.
