Specialist Metallurgist

Work Location:

- Fortescue Centre & Bennett St - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.


Roster:
Monday to Friday


This would be an excellent opportunity for someone with strong site-based experience to add significant value to our Perth Based Strategic Planning Metallurgical function.


You will be joining a passionate, driven and very agile technical team who delve into all aspects of materials science, metallurgical engineering, ore processing performance and provide metallurgical product prediction to mine planning horizons i.e.

LOM/5YP/2YP.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support development and optimisation of material tracking data systems
  • Review short and long term OPF performance against plan assumptions/ regression predictions for current and future operations
  • Assist teams with implementing standard procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of measurements
  • Analysis to investigate relationships between key metrics and material characteristics
  • Support optimisation projects and liaise with stakeholders
  • Understand priorities and orient changes to work plans with minimum guidance
  • Selfstarter and autonomous work ethic, although still asking for help when required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 4 years as a sitebased Metallurgist (at least 2 years in Iron ore)
  • Tertiary Qualification in Metallurgy/ Mineral processing
  • Knowledge of further Process/ planning systems etc is an advantage
  • Enthusiastic and 'cando' mind set with ability to manage changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills with strong report writing and presentation skills, ability to clearly and concisely articulate knowledge sharing to leaders and reports with ease
