Employment Type: Fixed term part time, 2 year contract commencing Feb 2025 (first year Graduate Program; second year Postgraduate Program)

Hours: 64 hour fortnight, AM/PM/Night shifts across Monday to Sunday roster and shifts will be dependent on teams

Location: Werribee Mercy Hospital, Werribee Community Care Unit, Wyndham Clinic and Saltwater Clinic in Footscray – rotation placements will be across different teams over multiple sites and operational hours will change accordingly

About the opportunity

Graduates are an integral part of Mercy Health's Commitment to develop our future workforce and as such, we welcome you to join our team to provide compassionate and responsive care to people in need.

Our 2 year Graduate Mental Health Nurse Program is designed to support and guide the transition from undergraduate to registered nurse within a supportive and welcoming environment. The aim is to promote educational opportunities to graduates as they consolidate their theoretical and clinical skills. This is a structured program with a comprehensive orientation, paid professional development days, and clinical supervision and reflective practice, which are supported by a dedicated Learning & Development Team.

Graduates are to self-enrol and undertake a minimum of Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing during Postgraduate Year (second year of the program).

Upon successful completion of Year 1, graduates will be presented with a transcript and certificate of Graduate Year completion which will work towards credit pathway for Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing at partnering universities.

Applicants must be registered with the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria Computer Matching Service and rank Mercy Health in their preferences. For further information visit:

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
