About the Role

2024 will see the introduction of a range modern and comprehensive academies with a focus on environmental and sustainable practices.

The Head of Department - The Arts will lead the implementation of the Creative Industries Academy and V9 of the Australian Curriculum in the Junior School, as well as the revised QCAA Applied Art Subject Syllabuses in the Senior School.

As the leader of The Arts, you will play an important role in ensuring high quality teaching and learning in line with our whole school Values, Vision and Purpose.

As Head of Department - The Arts, you will have responsibility for:

  • Actively promoting the Vision, Values and Purpose of Elanora State High School with a focus on providing quality learning outcomes for all students
  • Promoting effective teaching and learning practices that benefit all.
  • Leading the implementation of the Creative Industries Academy, Australian Curriculum V9 and Senior Applied Syllabus.
  • Embedding socially just practices in daily school life in line with the school's Positive Education and Positive Behaviour for Learning priorities.
  • Setting high standards for student and staff performance, including acknowledging and celebrating success.
  • Actively participating in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Promoting partnerships with students, parents, educational networks and the wider Elanora community.
  • Delivering the Faculty Improvement Plan for The Arts in consultation with Faculty Staff.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
