The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive analyst to join our national finance team.

You will be supporting our national Planning and Heritage business units in providing accurate financial management, cost control and assisting our Sydney and Melbourne commercial managers in executing business performance analysis.

This role is suitable for someone with strong financial acumen and analytical skills.

Key requirements of this role:

  • In conjunction with the Commercial Manager/s, business partnering with the national Heritage and Planning teams to drive favourable commercial outcomes (or any other Business Units or parts of the business as directed);
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager/s on the preparation of regular weekly, monthly reports and presentations to aid commercial decisionmaking;
  • Ongoing management of budgeting and forecasting to contribute to the business planning process;
  • Crafting and managing reports in Microsoft Excel, and business analysis tools; and
  • Executing valueadded analysis and providing decision support.
  • In consultation with Directors and Team Administration staff, ensuring that all BST Projects are actively managed by Project Managers and support staff in terms of billing, variance management and write offs
  • Actively monitoring the management of employee utilisation rates and reported revenue to achieve targeted or budgeted levels;
  • Collaborating closely with Directors and the Accounts Receivable team to effectively manage outstanding debtors, increase recoveries and lower bad debts
  • Reviewing timesheet data and then investigating any anomalies as required
  • In conjunction with the Commercial Manager/s, review sector profitability and project profitability.

About You:

  • CPA or CA qualified
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience ideally in a management accounting or business analysis role (preferably in a professional services company) Urbis would also consider Big 4 first time leavers.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel (in particular pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts/graphs)
  • Ability to clearly communicate financial concepts to stakeholders from a non financial background
  • Advanced skills in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with a preference for systems used in professional services
  • Experience in data analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, TM1 / Cognos considered beneficial
