THE DEPARTMENT


The Malignant Haematology and Stem Cell Transplantation Service and the Haemostasis / Thrombosis Unit, and the Haemophilia Centre, support haematology patients from the greater Melbourne area, and adult haemophilia patients from all of Victoria.

The Clinical Research Unit oversees a large number of clinical trials for these diverse patient groups from Phase 1, first-in-humans to Phase 3 randomised, controlled trials, testing newly developed drugs straight from the biotech companies, to established drugs used in new regimens.

A Collaborative Group called the Australasian Myeloma Research Consortium (AMaRC) is run from our unit.

It promotes, facilitates and sponsors Investigator Initiated Trials and collaborative laboratory research projects in myeloma, acting as Trial Centre supporting the participating sites in Australasia.


THE ROLE
Every Alfred Health nurse must practice in accordance with the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework.

The Professional Practice Framework defines the elements of nursing practice that improve the care and experience of our patients and aligns with the Patient's Come First Strategy.

It is comprised of five domains that are crucial to maintain standards, lead change and add value to healthcare. These domains are Care, Leadership, Professional Development, Workforce, Research and Informatics. This position will coordinate study participants and their treatments according to clinical trial protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Relevant health related tertiary qualification or
  • Current Division 1 registration with AHPRA

Desirable

  • Experience in Haematology or Medical Oncology
  • Knowledge of Haemophilia
  • Experience in clinical trials
  • GCP certification
