The Opportunity


This position will give you the opportunity to develop your research skills and output through your contribution to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals, participating in conferences and workshops, supervising students and actively engaging with industry partners.

This role reports to the Prof Rose Amal and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, Level A $100,318 to $107,299 per annum + 17% superannuation

Skills & Experience

  • PhD or equivalent in Chemical/Process Engineering or related discipline.
  • Expertise and experience in nanomaterial synthesis including hydrothermal, impregnation and electrodeposition techniques.
  • Extensive understanding of photocatalytic reforming reactions with a focus on photocatalyst design and characterisation.
  • Knowledge on semiconductor materials surface chemistry and optical properties (i.e. band structures and charge carrier properties).
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to develop technoeconomic feasibility study for power fuel technology.
  • Demonstrated ability for contribution to broader energy transition perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Excellent presentation (oral) and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate and carry out research programs within project budgets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
