The Role


AECOM's Buildings & Places Team in Perth are currently looking for an experienced Defence Sector Lead to develop our Defence business.

This Perth based role is an important career opportunity for someone who shares our commitment to supporting Australia's strategic interests through the provision of Defence infrastructure development, security and estate services.

This is a people oriented role with a focus on business development and project delivery.

About You


This is a concept-completion Project Management role with pipeline across varied Defence projects and a future opportunity to work across a diverse range of other market sectors.


  • 12+ years of prior and proven exposure to clientside Project Management consulting, specifically within Defence projects
  • A demonstrable understanding of State and Federal Government project management frameworks
  • Developing impactful relationships with senior customer executives while getting to know their businesses, markets, strategic imperatives, and the challenges they face.
  • Early Engagement with industry and organisations to seek participation in early studies and identify target projects. Defining the value proposition for the opportunity and strategy to position and secure future contracts.
  • Proven commitment to collaborative, ethical behaviour in a clientfacing environment
  • Strong capability in managing projects autonomously while working closely with clients as a key advisor in contract administration, scheduling, costing and tender submissions
  • Commitment to safety and understanding of OH&S best practice and obligations
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a multidisciplinary project team on complex multimilliondollar projects with responsibility for outcomes
  • Knowledge and understanding of procurement processes. Ability to provide strategic advice to clients and oversee procurement processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to develop comprehensive reports and submissions
  • Experience with administering contracts and overseeing the work of contractors, including negotiating variations and managing progress claims.

Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Defence projects essential
  • Qualifications in Project Management or Engineering
  • Australian Citizenship or ability to obtain
