Summary


As the Support Officer for the Capital Region Local Jobs Program, you'll be part of a team that's driving the implementation of the Local Jobs Program on behalf of the Australian Government.

This will require you to position yourself at the centre of the labour market in Goulburn, Crookwell, Yass and Young, forming strong partnerships with employers, government agencies, employment service providers, training organisations and community organisations.


You'll support the region's Employment Facilitator to identify barriers to employment in the region, and work with and connect employment sector operators to better direct their programs to address these barriers.

You'll also need to contribute to the design of new projects, working with your team, the Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce and other stakeholders to develop innovative activities that address issues not targeted by existing programs and services.


You'll be supported and mentored by the Employment Facilitator and by Outcomes Corp management and staff who already deliver Employment Facilitator services to the Australian government in other employment regions.

The role is based in Goulburn, with a focus on that location as well as Crookwell, Yass and Young.

Local Jobs Program


The Local Jobs Program is an initiative of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) and runs to 30 June 2025.

The objectives of the Local Jobs Program are to:

  • Support the greatest number of people to be connected in training and/or employment appropriate to the local labour market needs as quickly as possible.
  • Support employers to build strong pipelines of workers.
  • Drive better collaboration between existing local, state and Australian Government programs and services so the region's labour market works more efficiently and delivers better outcomes to employers and those looking for work.


There are 51 Local Jobs Program Teams (Employment Facilitators and Support Officers) delivering the Local Jobs Program in 51 Employment Regions across Australia.

Outcomes Corp has been contracted to deliver the Local Jobs Program in the Capital Region.

Support Officer role description


The LJP Support Officer is a dedicated resource engaged to support the Employment Facilitator in the delivery of LJP services.

The LJP Support Officer will assist the Employment Facilitator deliver the LJP services, including assisting to:

  • Engage and manage stakeholder relationships, especially in the Goulburn, Crookwell, Yass and Young areas.
  • Assist proponents to develop LJP Activities.
  • Assist the Employment Facilitator to design and deliver new labour market programs.
  • Coordinate and Chair Committees and Working Groups.
  • Maintain and update the Local Jobs Plan.
  • Analyse labour market data and information.
  • Collate and draft monthly reports to the department.
