Control Assurance Analyst

12-18 months MTC

Brisbane based role


As the Control Assurance Analyst you will deliver control testing and assurance activities for Banking operational risk and compliance obligations and provide recommendations to uplift and strengthen the control environment.


This role sits in the Control Assurance Team, who support centralised control assurance activities across the Bank and are responsible for testing, that internal controls sufficiently support risks and obligations and recommending improvement/automation opportunities.


The role

  • Coordinate Banking SMEs to ensure effective consultation for the design and execution of control tests, ensuring alignment with BEAR accountabilities
  • Identify automation and efficiency opportunities to strengthen the control environment, achieving the right balance between risk reduction and cost to implement
  • Effective relationship management and training to support Banking Executives in understanding their risk accountabilities and uplift knowledge of the control environment within all teams
  • Identify improvements in the control design to improve customer experience, where control automation is not possible
  • Ensure control testing and assurance activities align with internal Policies, Frameworks and Standards, regulatory requirements and BEAR reasonable steps requirement

What you'll do

  • Executing control test plans and assurance activities for Banking teams' operational risk and compliance obligations
  • Investigate opportunities across Banking to identify cost effective solutions and strategies to improve the control environment. This includes identifying automated solutions where possible to reduce cost to Banking teams and ensure an improved customer experience
  • Preparing management reports for management committees for control testing and assurance activities within Banking teams
  • Providing control testing and assurance expertise to 1LoD Risk & Compliance Advisors, and teams within Banking teams as required
  • Implementing Risk Management Policy, Framework and Standards requirements for Control testing and assurance within Banking teams
  • Complete adhoc work as required to support the delivery of Banking strategic objectives

What you'll bring

  • Relevant degree in Business, Law or related field (desired)
  • 1+ years' experience in risk, compliance, governance, audit and/or control assurance (desired)
  • 1+ years' experience in banking or financial services
  • Experience managing stakeholders, including coordination of key programs of work
  • Experience using Suncorp Policies, Frameworks and Standards
