Medical Typist / Transcriptionist

_Specialist Medical Receptionist & Day Hospital Admissions Clerk_

_Western Suburbs Location _

_gastroenterology / endoscopy specialty_ (desirable, but not essential).

Medical Transcriptionist Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Listening to the recorded dictation of gastroenterologist and other healthcare professionals.
  • Dictation system is Olympus ODMS
  • Knowledge of BlueChip / medical director an advantage
  • Using specialised transcription equipment such as headsets and foot pedals.
  • Editing and correcting medical dictation.
  • A fast typing speed with accuracy, selfchecking and a strong sense of grammar, punctuation, layout and communication skills.
  • Converting transcribed diagnostic test results, procedures, and consultation notes into applicable report formats.
  • Ensuring uncompromised patient care by transcribing quickly and accurately, as well as performing thorough editing.
  • Typing out the full forms of medical abbreviations and acronyms, as well as the formal versions of medical jargon.
  • Identifying and following up on inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within a transcribed report.
  • Submitting draft letters to healthcare professionals for their approval in a timely manner.
  • Performing additional tasks such as following up and revising patient history, recalls and other tasks.
  • Protecting patient confidentiality and adhering to legal requirements.
