Queensland Hydro's proposed pumped hydro energy storage projects can deliver the ultimate assurance for the State's energy transition and play a defining role in securing a stable transition to renewable energy.

Purpose

The Land Strategy and Planning Manager will lead a function that will provide strategic oversight and detailed planning support to Queensland Hydro's projects.

The position will be central to the successful execution of Queensland Hydro's projects. The ability to collaborate across Queensland Hydro and a good understanding of major project delivery (including the ability to identify and pursue opportunities to mitigate schedule risk). approvals, land delivery and landholder relations would be highly desirable advantageous.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive land acquisition & access, management, and operational strategy,
  • Coordinate project activities with land-related tasks, including acquisitions and alternative access approvals,
  • Manage short- and medium-term operational activities in collaboration with the project management teams,
  • Establish and maintain excellent long-term relationships with landholders within or near Queensland Hydro's project sites,
  • Lead the contract management team responsible for land agreements, focusing on rights and obligations.
  • Collaborate with landholders and other community stakeholders to develop and implement Resettlement Action Plans.
  • Identify, develop, and implement processes for land management as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor team members in land negotiations, including team management, prioritisation, and objective setting.
  • Provide advice and support to the project delivery team on land and property management, leading internal workstreams across multiple teams to deliver comprehensive land solutions.
  • Above all, ensure that Queensland Hydro's core values are demonstrated in all interactions with stakeholders.

About you

To be successful in this position and play an integral part of the team you will have proven demonstrated experience with the following but not limited to:

  • Tertiary qualified, with a minimum of 10 years' experience in property and land management, including landholder relations,
  • Proven experience in tenure administration, managing systems, monitoring processes, and initiating proactive innovations to enhance operational efficiencies,
  • Proven experience in managing a diverse property portfolio encompassing rural, residential, and commercial properties,
  • Proven experience in leading complex negotiations,
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision, and
  • Exceptional presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
