The opportunity we have available
The Vehicle Safety Operations Branch is Australia's national vehicle standards regulator.

We work to enhance vehicle safety, emissions control and anti-theft protection to ensure the Australian vehicle fleet is safe and efficient.

From 1 July 2021 the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 (RVSA) has been in force.

This legislation sets vehicle standards for all new vehicles entering the Australian market and regulates the supply to the market of used vehicles.


Tasks vary across the section and include:

  • Providing guidance and support to team members, including identifying any development needs
  • Resolving complex case matters
  • Developing reports using data from the ROVER IT system
  • Conducting quality assurance reviews and supporting process improvements through issue identification
  • Working with the team leader to develop and prepare training materials
  • Support the ongoing risk reporting processes for the branch
  • Contribute to briefings, correspondence and reports
  • Coordination tasks to provide operational support across the branch

Eligibility requirements


For some roles, qualifications in engineering, science or technology related to vehicle safety and experience in the automotive sector will be highly regarded but are not necessary.

Experience within commonwealth or state and territory agencies would be beneficial but is not necessary.
