We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to support the delivery of large-scale digital products that will make a meaningful difference to the 50,000+ people across Rio Tinto as they do their day-to-day jobs through our software. Reporting to the Manager Design and working in a collaborative and supportive environment within our global Digital Products division, you will:

  • Influence product decisions with product owners, software developers, and other designers based on UX best practices, design principles and research
  • Present work in a clear and compelling manner to stakeholders (be able to explain design recommendations by citing best practices, research data or business requirements)
  • Utilise your depth of experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Coordinate and run workshops of various types with multiple stakeholders
  • Collaborate in an Agile environment across disciplines, product lines, roles, geographical and time zone boundaries
  • Use your deep understanding of user-centred design principles and design trends to consistently advocate for the user and collaborate with business owners to develop features and flows that align with business and user needs
  • Define problem statements and simplify complex problems

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Computer Science, Visual Design, Communication Design or other related discipline, or equivalent experience or training
  • 5 plus years of experience as a UX practitioner with a background in user experience design, interaction design or similar
  • Strong skills in modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, Axure, Sketch, Zeplin, Adobe CC)
  • Strong portfolio that shows insights into your UX process and demonstrates creative problem-solving skills and conceptual thinking
  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional, Agile team
  • You exhibit alignment with the values of Care, Courage, and Curiosity at Rio Tinto
  • Proactive attitude with an ability to work autonomously
