About the Role


Black Star Pastry is going from strength to strength and we have just opened our beautiful new CBD store, located in one of Melbourne's iconic laneways.


Our new store showcases Black Star Pastry's innovative style whilst still honouring the heritage features of an historic CBD location.


On offer is the full range of Black Star Pastry's signature cakes, together with some fresh products created especially for this store - Pina Colada Croissant anyone?? - and of course first-class coffee from our partner St Ali.


With this we have a need for experienced Front of House All-Rounders to bring their energy and passion for hospitality as we build a dynamic new team.

We have casual opportunities available and ideally need availability from Monday to Friday.

Main Responsibilities- Have a thorough knowledge of all product offerings, in order to be able to accurately advise customers.

  • Maintain accurate knowledge of all food and beverage prices.
  • Confidently make food and beverage recommendations to customers.
  • Responsible for preservice preparation.
  • Ensure a consistent quality and presentation of food.
  • Be familiar with food and beverage service etiquette, serving all food and beverage in a professional manner and to the required standards.
  • Polish all silverware, glassware and cutlery.
  • Provide all customers with efficient and friendly service, fulfilling needs and ensuring standard of service is always maintained.

About You- Experience within the hospitality industry.

  • Passionate about hospitality service, and product quality.
  • Capability to connect with customers and provide a high level of service.
  • Demonstrated capability to multitask.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills.
  • Positive ambassador of the BSP brand.
  • Authentic and down to earth with a genuine love of people
  • Love of cake a bonus

About the Business


Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008 and since then we have grown into an institution with stores across Sydney and Melbourne including our flagship store at Chadstone.


We are most famous for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake which has become a social media sensation, with the New York Times declaring it "the world's most instagrammed cake.
