We are looking for:

Byron Shire Council is currently seeking 2x Community Enforcement Officers.

These roles are a great opportunity assist in providing a regulatory service to the community to ensure that there is compliance with regulatory standards, council approvals and policies.

These roles are dual graded - so graded depending on skills and experience.

About you:

Grade 4:

  • Understanding of the principles of law enforcement including the rules of evidence, procedural fairness and officer discretion.
  • Experience dealing with the public, conflict resolution and difficult situations and issues.
  • Ability to obtain relevant qualifications in development assessment, environmental studies, building surveying, government investigations or a related discipline, including qualifications as an authorised officer under Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.

Grade 6:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of law enforcement including the rules of evidence, procedural fairness and officer discretion with experience dealing with the public, conflict resolution and difficult situations and issues.
  • Good working knowledge of all legislation relevant to the position.
  • Relevant qualifications in development assessment, environmental studies, building surveying, government investigations or a related discipline, including demonstrated experience and qualifications as an authorised officer under Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.

We offer:

  • 2x permanent fulltime positions 38 hours per week (8.5 hour days over a 9 day fortnight)

  • Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of Grade 4 $1,116,30 to $1,293.40 per 38 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience) or Grade 6 $1, $1,466.85 per 38 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience)

This position is based at Mullumbimby however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
