About the position


Work within the La Trobe Sport Data Analytics team and in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Sport and the National Institute Network on a project to increase statistical literacy among sport and exercise scientists and enhance the impact and quality of scientific research in sport.


Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Collecting, cleaning, and preparing documentation to create a repository of canonical, sport science specific datasets that can be used for sports data science educational purposes.
  • Creating best practice guidelines and selfpaced, online education materials to upskill sport and exercise scientists in exploratory data analysis, data visualisation techniques, and develop industryrelevant examples for determining meaningful change within sport and exercise science contexts.

Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • A MSc or PhD in mathematics, statistics, or data science, and/or evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to discipline or professional area.
  • Evidence of experience in research and evaluation and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
  • A record of contribution to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research potential.
  • Experience in the analysis and modelling of data, including the capacity to integrate data from a range of sources and of uneven quality.
  • High level of proficiency in the R or Python programming languages.
