Develop and implement processes for identifying offender education, literacy, numeracy, vocational training needs required by correctional centre in Queensland.

  • Undertake annual planning processes with centres, external funding bodies and education providers for education and vocational education service delivery.
  • Oversight monitoring of delivery of contracted and noncontracted literacy, numeracy, vocational training and other offender services in correctional centres.
  • Ensure provision of internal and external performance reports as required.
  • Resolve service delivery issues as required.
  • Work within human, financial and other resources to ensure delivery of quality training, programs and services.
  • Implement rehabilitation services which provide evidencebased solutions to offender needs, including priority groups such as women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and offenders with a disability.
  • Provide input regarding emerging trends in education, vocational training and offender services.
  • Provide advice to the Manager of Education Services regarding human, financial and physical resources to ensure that activities, systems and processes meet organisational needs.
  • Identify and develop strategies to effectively respond to any emerging risks to the effectiveness of Agency rehabilitation programs and services.
  • Identify relevant trends and issues in the delivery of education and offender services including identification and resolution to emerging risks.
  • Develop strategies to improve the quality and consistency of educational, vocational training and service delivery and other relevant professional practice issues.
  • Manage the preparation of strategic advice and ministerial and executive correspondence ensuring accuracy and timelines are met.
  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding of contemporary rehabilitation issues, trends and practices.
  • Provide accurate and timely monthly reports on education providers' delivery and centre participation targets.
  • Review correspondence and provide advice to the Manager of Education Services or other staff as needed.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Statewide Operations, other section of the Agency and contracted service providers to ensure optimal service delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure effective, open, twoway communication with all external service providers delivering training in correctional centres.
  • Represent the Agency in negotiations with other government Agencies and key agencies as required to ensure the achievement of Government priorities and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of work activities and practice issues impacting the Directorate, the Agency and operational units.
