Your role

The Principal Advisor will:

  • Provide leadership and advice in the planning, development and implementation of statewide training in physical skills for practices that supports the Disability, Inclusion and Student Support priorities, ensuring that the outcomes are aligned to, and supportive of, the department's agenda for improvement in schools.
  • Provide project planning and support to assist with the development and implementation of strategic initiatives related to state schooling. This includes current and emerging Australian government and State government initiatives.
  • Provide high level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to the specific accountabilities of the role.

Responsibilitie include:

  • Lead and collaborate in the implementation of developing and designing online modules for restrictive practices physical skills training, ensuring training modules meet accessibility requirements and related department policy and procedures.
  • Lead to the development of guidelines, processes and/or training action plan in relation to training delivery of physical skills for restrictive practices.
  • Collaborate in the coordination of restrictive practices physical skills training, including planning, delivery and reporting of project activities and initiatives to deliver strategic objectives and highquality services.
  • Contribute to project management, research, training analysis and data collection/analysis.
  • Collaborate with Principal Advisors, Restrictive Practices Training and support the coordination and management to implement a statewide sustainable training model to deliver physical skills training for restrictive practices in Queensland state schools including (but not limited to) the organisation of participant registrations, venues, catering and travel.
  • Ensure the progression of strategies and initiatives to improve the safety and wellbeing of students and staff, with the aim of reducing and eliminating the use of restrictive practices in schools.
  • Develop and manage project plans to clearly outline outcomes, deliverables, timelines, resource requirements and performance measures on time and on budget for initiatives.
  • Identify and manage project issues, providing authoritative advice, management and correction of risks relevant to program objectives, and ensuring continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of highquality services.
  • Provide high quality written and oral advice on complex issues including online content, preparation of complex reports, briefings, business cases and other communication on a wide range of strategic and operational issues in relation to reducing and eliminating the use of restrictive practices.
  • Provide authoritative strategic and operational advice and services to senior leaders, managers and staff relating to project initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and holistic innovation in the delivery of highquality services.
  • Perform risk analysis on the program to identify issues requiring corrective action and manage risks as required to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, corporate policies, standards and systems that align with both DoE and the whole of government agenda.
