About the role:


The APS6 Finance Officer - Scheme Reporting is responsible for providing detailed technical, professional, and operational support and advice in relation to complex problems as well as, to coordinate and assist in contributing to highly complex, sensitive projects or work programs aimed at achieving the agency's mission.


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Analyse and interpret statistical reports to assist with the development of work plans and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects.
  • Coordinate and provide cost estimates for all internal and external requests for changes to systems.
  • Develop correspondence for stakeholders, such as financial reports, corporate documentation and responses to ministerial submissions.
  • Exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
  • Manage quality assurance activities and outcomes including the use of integrity/error reporting and the coordination of quality audits.
  • Prepare a range of written material including business cases, reports and corporate documentation.
  • Undertake quality assurance of feasibility and cost estimates, assumptions and justifications.
  • Undertake detailed financial analysis of branch/division's variance to budget and forecast.
  • Undertake financial administration and across the division's cost centres and projects, including budgets, monitoring, forecasting and accruals.

MANDATORY

  • Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (charting, manipulation & pivot tables)
  • Experience in financial reporting or working with financial information
  • Highly developed skills in data analysis and report development.
  • Ability to interpret and transform data into presentable dashboards
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one.

Desirable skills to have for the role:

  • Experience in working with SAP financial systems
  • Experience in a Federal Government finance environment
  • Experience in SAS Enterprise Guide (including coding with SAS and SQL)
  • Experience with a variety of programming languages (R, Python etc)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
