Purpose of the role

The Finance Officer role efficiently manages financial transactions, ensures accurate reporting, and supports compliance matters. Responsibilities include executing month-end processes, preparing financial statements, and managing taxation requirements. Additionally, the role contributes to policy development, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing and administering financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash transactions, corporate credit cards and purchase orders.
  • Undertake month-end processes (including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts) to deliver internal and external reporting.
  • Assisting with end of year financial statements, including preparation of various financial statement notes and supporting work papers for audit.
  • Taxation processing and reporting requirements including GST, FBT returns and Annual
  • Providing advice, support and/or training on financial matters, accounting policies and procedures, statutory reporting, and taxation matters.
  • Contributing to the development of relevant operating and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Participating in the development of new practices and procedures to streamline processes and develop new and innovative ways of working.

Key Skills and experience

  • Strong interpersonal and liaison skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Attention to detail in the processing of high volume, complex transactions.
  • Ability to adapt and use a range of software
  • Accounting or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Financial accounting experience and prior experience in government finance desirable
