Chief Finance Officer

Not all jobs are created equal, and right now, the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage is looking for an experienced Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to support the Department achieve its purpose in finding solutions to create a vibrant future for all Western Australians.

What makes this pivotal position so special? You will play a leading role in ensuring the Department achieves its vision: respecting the past; creating opportunities today; and planning for the future.

Naturally you will provide strategic leadership and management of the Department's statewide financial, business and procurement services.

You will also support the Director General and Corporate Executive with strategic and operational planning and management, and provide timely advice on the financial, business, and procurement implications of policy decisions under consideration by the Department.

This is a fixed term full-time position (up to five years) and this process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.

The Department is located in prime position within the Perth CBD, above the Perth Underground rail, close to the Wellington Street Bus Station and City CAT services.

We are looking for a proactive, results-driven, finance professional who can lead a team in delivering quality, responsive and accurate financial planning and budget management services and can demonstrate the following:

  • Substantial experience in the application of public sector financial management frameworks, legislation, policies and processes.
  • Extensive and demonstrated experience in leading the preparation of internal budgets, statutory reporting, accounting and financial management in a large and complex environment.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in best practice financial management and accounting practice principles.
