Our Government client is seeking a Finance Officer to assist the Commercial and Residential Property Accountant with all financial aspects of their property portfolio.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of the endtoend property management finance function, including the implementation of new property management system and establishment of formal procedures and processes.
  • Assist with the monthly issuing of all invoices for base rent, turnover rent, licence fees, promotional fund levies, utilities (power, water, wastewater, gas and solid waste) for approximately 160 commercial, residential and concession holders, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensuring all tenant changes, rent reviews, rent waivers/abatements, standing charging etc are correctly and promptly reflected.
  • Assist with the receipting of amounts from tenants to ensure all receipts are correctly recorded.
  • Work closely with property managers (in Contracts and Planning Division) to ensure a responsive and quality customer service is provided to all tenants.
  • Assist with issuing of monthly statements to tenants and management of arrears.
  • Assist with the assessment of financial hardship and payment plan requests received from tenants.
  • Assist with management of the promotional fund levy account, including the annual audit.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of property related accounts to the general ledger.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal monthly and adhoc reporting requirements to Chief Financial Officer and Contracts & Planning Division.
  • Assist with other audits, including financial year end audit, as required.
  • Assist with the financial data integrity of the inhouse property management software in line with policy and procedures.
  • Assist with the ongoing review of operational procedures relating to the finance function of the property management system.
  • Liaise with internal managers and other relevant stakeholders, providing assistance as required.
  • Maintain awareness and relevance of transaction processes, including an understanding of relevant legislative policy and procedure compliance requirements.
  • Follow up of reconciliation issues with Finance team and other business areas on a timely basis.
  • Ensure all processes are in accordance with the Financial Management Act and Treasurers Instruction guidelines.
  • Assist other Finance Officers with their duties, including backfill of their positions, as required.
  • Undertakes other duties as directed.

Essential Skills or Experience
***- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, a range of financial accounting functions, including commercial and/or residential property leasing.

  • Welldeveloped computer skills including Financial Management Information Systems and Microsoft Office Software, specifically Excel (intermediate) and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including within a team environment and contribute to the achievement of team goals and objectives.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.

Desirable Skills or Experience
***- Possession of or progress toward a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Commerce would be considered advantageous.
