As the Community Coach you will report to the Program Manager and be the cornerstone of trust and rapport-building, responding to the unique and diverse needs of individuals with empathy and compassion.

This remarkable demonstration project in Greater Western Sydney will have you working alongside a range of people in a person-led and strengths-based way at Mission Australia, pushing us to think differently about how we demonstrate impact, collect data, tell stories, and influence the wider system.

We're not just looking for someone to follow the status quo; we need a trailblazer, a system activist ready to challenge conventions and explore innovative pathways toward transformative change.

If you're passionate about making a meaningful difference and ready to embrace the challenge of redefining community engagement, then we want to hear from you.

Join us in our mission to create lasting, individualized change, one relationship at a time.

First and foremost, you will be accountable to the people you work alongside, deeply listening and responding to their situations, identifying, and brokering opportunities in the real world to support people to prosper and live the life they want to live.

You might have worked in the system all your life, you might have experienced the system yourself, you may have limited experience of supporting people, but you have experiences which tell you that things need to change and your ready to fight for it.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop strong relationships and rapport within the community.
  • Focus on individuals' strengths, assets, and capabilities to tailor support strategies.
  • Collaborate with community members to achieve their identified goals or pathways.
  • Maintain positive internal and external relationships and adapt communication style to manage conflict.
  • Utilise experiences to identify and advocate for necessary changes within the system.
  • Ensure completion of all required paperwork and administrative duties in line with Mission Australia protocols.
  • Conduct communitybased activities and potentially provide outreach services.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service provision and implement quality program activities to meet service standards.
Requirements for Success

  • Experience of housing and homelessness systems is key with local knowledge and understanding of opportunities available to people in Western Sydney
  • Possess highlevel interpersonal skills, selfmotivation, and a positive attitude.
  • Exhibit strong listening and engagement skills, including the capacity to discern information effectively.
  • Showcase pragmatic problemsolving abilities and the capability to coach and positively influence for effective outcomes.
  • Work under broad direction, exercise initiative, and manage time effectively.
  • Contribute positively as a team player, seeking ways to enhance work practices and processes.
  • Handle confidentiality and sensitive social issues with professionalism.
  • Embrace a personled approach, believing in everyone's capacity to grow and improve, developing and nurturing trusting relationships.
  • Manage resilience, personal development, selfawareness, and wellness effectively.
  • A full driver licence with no restrictions

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
