We are looking for a
Master Tools & Dies Manufacturing Specialist.

Duties

  • Refining and developing the processes of manufacturing of master tools and dies to optimise the efficiency of processes by programming and operating the Toolroom's CNC Lathe, CNC Mill, and Laser Deep Engraving and manually operated manufacturing machinery.
  • Supporting other tradespeople, operators within the team by providing training and assisting with trouble shooting.
  • Conducting quality measurement functions such as Alicona scanning, CMM reporting.
  • Effectively supporting manufacturing activities to ensure due dates of master tools and dies are met.
  • Providing advice to coin design and engineering regarding practical issues associated with manufacturing of complex master tools and dies.
  • Undertaking any future training for new machine tools, software, and technologies.
  • Assisting to commission and setup new machines and processes. Operating and maintaining equipment used in the manufacture of master tools and dies.
  • Maintaining manufacturing records using ERP/MRP systems by retrieving and updating data and making bookings.
  • Developing the operating procedures, work instructions, and risk assessments as per established quality and safety standards. Taking responsibility of answering to quality audits of processes.
  • Approving the master tools and direct cut dies by ensuring quality standards are met.

Technical skills and experience

  • Trade skills in machining and/or toolmaking with 5+ years of posttrade experience.
  • Understanding CNC machining practices across milling and turning.
  • Expertise on high precision laser engraving machine.
  • Thorough understanding of complete coining process.
  • Demonstrated competence of AS1100 drawing standards.
  • Demonstrated capability in all form of manual machining including high precision cylindrical and surface grinding.
  • Thoroughly understand the process of heat treatment and can carry out heat treatment activities of tool steels using computer controlled vacuum furnace technologies.
  • Ability to measure and analyse the dimensions and parameters of master tools and dies using precision measuring instruments, Alicona scanner and CMM.
  • Ability to analyse and assist with R&D and improvement activities.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Working experience in hand working and polishing of intricate coining dies and punches under microscope to a fine detail, using advanced fine motor skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate and undertake the jobs to meet due dates.
  • High level interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in using ERP/MRP systems.
