Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a highly experienced Group Manager – Projects & Studies to join our growing Minerals team in Brisbane. This leadership role is critical in helping deliver our growing pipeline of minerals projects and studies through our expanding Brisbane office

Reporting to the General Manager- Brisbane the Group Manager – Projects & Studies will be responsible for managing the Brisbane Projects & Studies Group operations providing professional services in alignment with Lycopodium's standards and Clients' requirements. In addition to your local direct report, in addition to your local direct report, you will also have a functional reporting line into the General Manager Projects in Perth.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Monitor Projects & Studies performance including costs, progress against schedule, safety, and internal reviews to provide a transparent assessment of critical performances.
  • Approve and assist with the delivery of Projects & Studies documentation in relation to scope, quantities, cost and schedule for proposals.
  • Drive business development activities through engaging and maintaining Client relationships and key prospect development.
  • Manage the professional development of core personnel through establishing individual development programmes and recommending appropriate beneficial training.
  • Maximise the productivity and efficiency of the Group by planning, scheduling and the appropriate allocation of all resources to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Align the composition and skills of staff within the Group to Projects & Studies requirements and the Company's strategic plans.
  • Proactively support other Groups as required to ensure Project deliverables are met.
  • Actively participate in auditing of policies, procedures, standards and plans applicable to the Group in order to improve the quality and professionalism of services.
  • Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives which support business priorities for continuous improvement.
  • Promote Training and Development initiatives for the Group members in relevant Company procedures, policies', plans, systems and protocols to enable the Projects and Studies teams to work efficiently and to high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.

The expertise you'll bring

  • University degree in Engineering or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • 15+ years' post graduate experience in Mining, Mineral Processing or related industries,
  • 10+ years' hands-on Project Management experience leading/managing Projects in excess of US$250M or 5+ years' Operations Management experience managing operations of more than 50 personnel
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
  • Exemplify and encourage the core values and ethos of the business.
  • Provide mentoring and identify avenues of professional development and succession planning for personnel within the Group.
  • Capacity to evaluate work practices, implement systems and suggest alternatives and refinements where necessary.
