If you join us as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll work alongside 3 expert geotechnical engineers, reporting to the Superintendent Geotechnical. Together, you'll lead technical efforts at South Walker Creek and Poitrel Mine Sites.

  • Conduct thorough geotechnical investigations to assess ground conditions and detect potential hazards.
  • Analyze ground movements and slope stability using advanced tools and software.
  • Implement monitoring programs to catch geotechnical issues early.
  • Offer geotechnical insights for mine planning and operational decisions.
  • Collaborate with geology, mining, and operations teams to enhance pit design and overall mine stability.
  • Regularly inspect high-risk zones and propose necessary actions.
  • Prepare detailed geotechnical reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Supervise the management of the mine's dams and structures.

To excel in this role, we're looking for someone with:

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or engineering geology.
  • At least 3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering within open-cut coal mining.
  • Familiarity with Vulcan and geotechnical software like Rocscience or GeoStudio.
  • RPEQ qualification in geotechnical engineering is a plus.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
