The Role


An outstanding opportunity exists for an Intensive Care Consultant/Intensivist to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Richmond campus of Epworth HealthCare, part time or full-time as a fixed term appointment for 8-months from March 2023 to October 2023 covering parental leave.

Epworth Richmond's ICU is a modern 26-bed general medical/surgical unit with approximately 2,500 admissions per year and is classified as a level 3 ICU accredited for general and cardiothoracic training with the College of Intensive Care Medicine.

Previous experience in a private, academic setting is desirable.

Principal duties are to assist the ICU team in providing:
Outstanding clinical leadership to the ICU and wider hospital
The highest quality of healthcare and patient safety, consistent with the Epworth Values and Behaviours
Accessible, responsive, and innovative Intensive Care Services within Epworth Richmond
Management of the resources of the ICU to ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency and continuing service improvement
Collaboration to ensure that high quality care is delivered to patients at need across the hospital
Support of the ICU's outreach services, including ICU liaison, rapid response, and nutritional support services
Support of the academic, research and education roles of the ICU at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Supervision of registrars and other relevant staff in training
