About the role

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Superstructures) for the high profile Swan River Crossing project in Fremantle, WA. This role offers great career prospects with a privately-owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

About the Project

The Swan River Crossings Project is one of Main Roads' WA's most complex and challenging projects, involving road, port, freight, river, walking, cycling, heritage and environmental considerations.

The Project will replace the ageing Fremantle Traffic Bridge with Australia's first extradosed bridge, incorporating both cantilevers and cable support, that will create a striking gateway to Fremantle.

The Fremantle Bridges Alliance is a consortium with Arup, WSP and Laing O'Rourke that will design and deliver the project in partnership with Main Roads WA.

The project will:

  • Replace the existing Fremantle Traffic Bridge.
  • Provide safe and modern standard pedestrian and cycling infrastructure over the Swan River.
  • Increase marine safety and navigational clearances for river users.
  • Acknowledge both European and Aboriginal heritage of the area through design

Key responsibilities

You will be responsible for planning and sequencing of construction activities, tracking costs, subcontractor management, interface with design management and construction delivery team whilst at all times adhering to Laing O'Rourke's safety policies & procedures.

About you

  • A degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering along with construction contracting experience having worked as a Senior Project Engineer for Tier 1 Construction Contractors
  • Experience working with superstructures on cable stayed or extradosed road bridges viewed favourably.
  • A strong commercial acumen
  • Strong problem solving, organisational and communication skills
