Position Information:

Lalor Park Public School is a unique setting with a multi layered educational landscape.

The school has an enrolment of 203 students, 9% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 22% of non-English speaking background.

The school comprises of preschool, mainstream and support unit classes. Based at the school are the Itinerant Support Hearing Team and an Assistant Principal Learning and Support. These specialised staff provide support to students, staff and families across the Metropolitan South and West School Operational Directorate.

The Itinerant Teacher Hearing (ISTH) position is based at Lalor Park Public School.

The successful applicant will be required to travel between schools across the Bungarribee, Quakers Hill and The Ponds Networks in Metropolitan South and West School Operational Directorate to support the learning needs of students with a hearing impairment.

The ability and willingness to travel between worksites is a requirement of this position. Students on caseload range from newborn through to Year 12 across a variety of settings.

Two thirds of caseload students are enrolled in mainstream classes with the remaining third in support classes or Schools for Specific Purposes.

The ISTH will work collaboratively with students, school staff, parents/carers and outside agencies to develop and support the implementation of invidualised programs for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH).


Selection Criteria:


Approval to teach Special Education - Hearing Impairment and a commitment to ongoing professional learning in the field of Deaf Education.


Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate quality, inclusive learning plans to meet the complex needs of students who are DHH from age of diagnosis to Year 12 across educational settings.

Knowledge and/or willingness to develop skills in sign language, augmentative communication systems and assistive technology.


Evidence of highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build and maintain relationships with students, schools, parents, communities and outside agencies.
