The Role:


Reporting to the Head of Service Enablement Catchments & Waterways this role is responsible for managing the underground drainage network and associated assets for Melbourne Water.

This role will develop and lead a high-performing team of asset managers and project development resources to deliver and optimise capital programs, non
- asset and maintenance regimes incorporating integrated growth, compliance and asset renewal outcomes. These programs are in line with Melbourne Waters commitment on delivering our Flood Strategy; covering flood risk management (mitigation, emergency planning, drainage and flood modelling).

This will be achieved through;

  • Definition, monitoring and optimisation of Management Regimes at asset / system level to meet Service Technical and Program Objectives
  • Identify / respond to asset performance issues through optimisation of Management Regimes. Optimisation of current asset / systems
  • Development and implementation of programs up to Ready for Tender
  • Integration of new assets or nonasset solutions into Melbourne Water's Asset Management System (i.e. ensure handover outcomes are met) including asset register management, maintenance programs implemented, compliance programs implemented, etc.
  • Assess asset performance, service capability and risk to services associated with Melbourne Water's infrastructure.
  • Work with stakeholders (internal and external) to understand the opportunities of integrated management of assets and services whilst exploring innovative solutions
  • Meet relevant statutory key performance indicators and industry agreed time frames for customer service.
  • Manage, develop and coach the Service Enablement
  • Drainage and Flood Mitigation team.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in managing stakeholders, working collaboratively across multiple government agencies and developing and implementing codelivery partnerships with stakeholders and the community.
  • Exposure and engagement with the local community to understand and respond to local issues.
  • Experience in managing infrastructure assets.
  • Extensive experience in program implementation.
  • Experience and knowledge of good practice in either asset management, project management or asset planning processes, risk assessment and management techniques.
  • An understanding of dam safety management principles and the Regulatory environment in Victoria.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen skills
  • Tertiary degree in relevant engineering or related discipline (e.g. civil, flood modelling) or extensive experience
