About the role


The role of Head of Data is responsible for partnering with Technology delivery and business SME's for the ongoing collection and collation of customer and operational data to support delivery of data to functional operational units and platforms that drive both consumer insights and growth in e-commerce, affiliate, advertising and other revenue opportunities that arise.


The role will initially be focused creating and delivering a customer data platform & team that enables other areas of the business to be informed and make optimal business decisions.


Duties

  • Provide technical leadership in designing, delivering, and supporting Data & Insight solutions.
  • Manages the daytoday workload of the data team, ensuring that work is allocated, prioritised and completed within defined KPIs.
  • Mentor and support an engaged internal data community across the firm to provide development opportunities as well as advocates for data and analytics initiatives
  • Develop and manage processes, frameworks, and tools to deliver databased outcomes.
  • Deliver solutions and innovations in the data space that will support business goals.
  • Delivers project documentation as defined in the Delivery Team Projects Engagement Model.
  • Actively drives improvements and efficiencies within the team, introduce a robust SDLC and other best practice processes and ways of working.
  • Maintains development plans for development team members appropriate to both the individual and the business.

Skills and experience

  • Extensive experience working with AWS, Python, ETL, SQL and data quality tools with a particular focus around data warehousing, Customer data platforms and Martech integration
  • Experience with cloudbased Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments (experience with AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Experience using and developing reports in various BI tools, such as PowerBI.
  • Highly experienced in working with customer data sets, delivering audience profiling and segmentation.
  • Tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data Science Information Systems, or relevant area
  • 3+ years experience in managing a data team
