The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an APS6 Communications Officer - Technical Writer to join the team within a Federal Government Agency based in Geelong.

This is a 12 month assignment paying $60.26 per hour plus super.

The APS6 Communications Officer - Technical Writer provides engagement and communication solutions and advice across the agency. The role will support the development and implementation of multi-channel engagement and communications strategies across internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities include;

  • Contribute to the delivery of timely, innovative, efficient and evidencebased communication strategies, plans, content and activities
  • Develop, implement and monitor targeted communication and engagement plans
  • Manage internal and external communication and engagement channels to support business areas to reach their intended audiences
  • Utilise report metrics to review the impact of communication and engagement approaches
  • Implement a communication and engagement business partnering model, guiding staff with best practice advice and quality assurance
  • Manage public facing communications and engagement approaches
  • Produce content for communications channels and platforms including website, ministerial and executive briefings, event materials and social media

Key skills required for this role;

  • Experience as a technical writer
  • Experience with legislative requirements and complex analysis that need to be understood and communicated simply
In addition, you will bring

  • Significant communications experience
  • Strong initiative
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationshipbuilding skills
  • Previous government experience would be advantageous
