An exciting opportunity has emerged within our newly established Arborist Team as a crucial addition to our Statutory Planning department.


The role:

You will play a key role in shaping our community's green landscape.

Your tasks will involve providing expert guidance on arboricultural matters and ensuring compliance with planning permits, the Whitehorse Planning Scheme, and relevant legislation.

Collaborating closely with the Assistant Manager Statutory Planning, you will actively contribute to achieving exceptional tree and vegetation outcomes, enhancing the overall environmental outcomes for our community.


About you:

  • Tertiary qualification in Arboriculture or related discipline (to at least Australian Qualification Framework Level 5), or other relevant discipline or alternatively, a lower level qualification with successful experience in a similar role with experience in the provision of arboriculture, horticulture or related discipline.
  • Strong technical skills and several years' experience in the provision of arboriculture, horticulture or related discipline, with an emphasis on the assessment of trees and vegetation in an urban environment and awareness of the planning framework as it relates to trees on development sites.
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills with the ability to gain cooperation from members of the public and other employees in statutory planning matters.
  • Ability to manage a variety of difficult to complex tasks with supervision. Demonstrated commitment to the development processes appropriate to the role and achievement of objectives with a team environment.
