We currently have an opportunity for experienced Traction Overhead Line Coordinator to join our Queensland Rail Network SEQ team in the Geebung depot.
This area delivers infrastructure services, construction, maintenance, asset management and development across 700 kilometres of track around Southeast Queensland, which stretches from Varsity Lakes in the South to Gympie in the North and from Moreton Bay in the East and inland to Rosewood in the west.
As a Traction Overhead Line Coordinator, you will effectively supervise and provide technical and administrative support for the maintenance, construction and installation of traction power equipment to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the system and to meet budget and maintenance schedules and Queensland Rail policies and standards.
What are the position Responsibilities?
- Supervise the maintenance, construction and installation of traction power equipment to ensure operational safety and equipment reliability within defined budget and time constraints and provide technical support.
- Assist in the preparation and production of procedures such as work instructions, safe work method statements relevant to overhead maintenance activities and implement and monitor preventative maintenance and rectification programmes based on quality improvement principles.
- Inspect and report regularly on traction power systems and equipment being maintained to ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with relevant standards and procedures.
- Provide a proactive response to rectify system faults thus minimising train delays and carry out investigations of system faults and operational anomalies as required.
- Assess the performance of Senior Traction Linesperson and Linesperson's by using agreed Queensland Rail processes if applicable and recommend training and development programs to the supervisor.
- Coordinate internal and external service providers to ensure inspection, testing, safe operation and maintenance of all plant and safety equipment used in the maintenance of the traction power system.
- Assist in budget preparation, control and subsequently monitor expenditure and ensure adequate stores and materials are available to carry out programmed and reactive maintenance functions to the traction power system equipment.
- Assist the manager/supervisor in ensuring compliance with legislation applicable to the workgroup and its activities including, Electrical, Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental, Employment, Anti-Discrimination and Trade Practices Acts.
What are the key selection criteria?
- High level of skill in all aspects of the supervision of staff, work activities and resources.
- Extensive knowledge of traction power maintenance and isolation procedures including the use of machinery resources required for the effective installation and maintenance of traction power systems and equipment to meet operational and safety standards.
- Substantial skills in the area of project management and development techniques.
- Substantial skill in carrying out technical investigations, implementing improvement initiatives, undertaking audits and monitoring performance on traction power equipment.
- High level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including use of PC based technology to meet maintenance function and administrative requirements.
- Sound knowledge of budget monitoring and control techniques.
- Substantial knowledge of the relevant legislation as applicable to the work group and its activities.
- Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail's values and behaviours.
What are the pre-employment Qualifications?
- Current Queensland Electrical Linesperson licence (Traction experience is essential);
- National Driver's license C
This opportunity operates across a 4 week cycle, with shifts scheduled days, nights and on weekends during weekend track closures.
Full time base annual salary:
$90, allowances + super + any applicable penalty rates & overtime allowances.
