Reporting to the Manager Infrastructure Contracts for the Station Accessibility Upgrade Program, this role will provide contract management and associated services for the SEQ Project Delivery team in Queensland Rail.

The Station Accessibility Upgrade program brings together a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and experts, as well as collaboration with Government and large Contractors to deliver station upgrades across the Southeast Queensland rail network.

This opportunity is a Fixed Term opportunity for approximately 2 years.


This role would ideally suit a contract manager working client side or contract manager/senior contract administrator currently working for a principal contractor on medium to large scale construction projects.

You will effectively have demonstrated experience in the following areas

  • Assessment of complex extension of time claims
  • Assessments of complex head contract variations
  • Understanding of design & construct (D&C) projects
  • Experience administrating Australian Standard and bespoke contracts.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation eg. WHS ACT, BIFA etc


Your demonstrated experience in these areas can be further developed within Queensland Rail through ongoing training to assist with continuous professional and career development.

You will effectively provide contractual support in the delivery of projects, ensuring safety, time, cost and quality objectives are achieved.


Some of your responsibilities include:

  • Provide contract management of multiple contract types to achieve construction and operational safety, compliance to technical standards, and contract requirements.
  • Manage stakeholder aspects including pretender issues, scope changes, reporting and contract delivery within budget, quality, and delivery milestones to achieve stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Resolve contract disputes, carry out site inspections, chair contract and progress meetings and write contract correspondence and evaluate contractor's claims.
  • Provide technical assistance and supervision to Construction Inspectors.
  • Implement safety, environmental, quality, and technical standards, specifications and procedures.
  • Provide supervision and technical direction to service providers and contractors in the delivery of projects.
  • Perform the duties of Superintendent representative.
  • Understand and comply with the Queensland Rail's Projects function applicable governance, principles, business rules and practises.

What do we need from you:

  • Provide contract management and guidance to ensure the contract is administered in line with the conditions and provisions outlined.
  • Have a professional relationship approach in managing project requirements with the principal contractor.
  • Close out contract requirements eg. RFI's, site instruction etc etc.
  • Participate in contingency/variation forecast reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation of payment certificates and cost reporting for work completed and monitor receipt of payment.
  • Management of progress claims, extension of time claims, variations, and other contractual claims
  • Monitor and manage administrative requirements of the contract.
  • Maintain registers of contracts, variations, delays, extensions of time etc
  • High level of interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, consultation and communication skills.
  • High level of knowledge in statutory, regulatory and policy obligations, to satisfy the safety, environment, contract processes in a commercially focused business.
  • An understanding of risk management identification and mitigation to ensure all legislation, regulations and practices are managed.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.
