Your Opportunity Our AccessAbility Service provides support to students with disabilities and we are looking for support workers who can work across both of these roles as need dictates.

Proficiency in Auslan interpreting would also be favourably considered as an extension of these roles. Interpreting is paid at a higher rate.


The position will be based primarily at at Southbank, and you may be required to work at other campuses, including Alexandra Hills.

Key Responsibilities Disability Coach - Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established TAFE values of Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative and Safety First.

- Live a safety culture, lead by example and support the creation of a TAFE Queensland Brisbane-wide safety culture.

- Provide support to learners with a disability through the design and conduct of individualised coaching sessions and advocacy for learners as required.

Self-management, participative decision-making, team participation and the ability to accept, promote and manage change. 2. Instructional effectiveness including knowledge of contemporary disability practice, quality student interaction and effective preparation. 3.


Promotion of inclusive delivery practice by contributing to course planning and development through participation and contribution to the learners support plan.

4. Commitment to self-development with the focus on instructional skills, technology, skills update and contemporary disability practices. 5.


Application of knowledge of, and commitment to, the principles and objectives that underpin anti-discrimination legislation with particular reference to the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Disability Standards for Education 2005, Disability Services Act 2006 and departmental policies and guidelines that are relevant to disability services.

Key Responsibilities Disability Support Worker - Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Commerciality, Teamwork, Innovation and Accountability.

- Live a safety culture, lead by example and support the Health Safety and Environment Management System to create a TAFE Queensland Brisbane-wide safety culture.

- Provide educational support for people with a disability as directed by the Disability Services Officer to participate in campus based industry training or similar to maximise opportunities and to build independence and ownership of outcomes.


  • Assistance with assignments (planning and organising), operating computers including general office software packages and access to facilities and technology.
  • Note taking during classes, scribing in exams/assessments and/or adaptation of course materials.
  • Liaise with the Disability Services Officer, delivery and administrative staff and where necessary advocate on behalf of the learner to ensure the provision of appropriate disability support services.
  • Maintain an awareness of organisational facilities, support mechanisms and resources available for people with a disability.
  • Maintain an awareness of contemporary practices and processes, promote learner independence, confidence and identify and report any changing support needs of the learner.
  • Maintain records, manage resources and provide feedback to the Disability Services Officer regarding each learners participation and engagement.
  • Work both autonomously and as a member of a team to maintain a client focus in the delivery of a range of services for learners with a disability.
