About the roleWe are seeking an experienced Scientist who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:

Perform manual and automated diagnostic testingPerforming all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissectionAssisting with Stock ControlCompliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocolsMaintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocolsMaintaining current scientific knowledgeParticipation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activitiesContributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as requiredParticipating in training staffLiaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessaryCompliance and 100% adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.

About youTo be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalentDemonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective disciplineSound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshootingDemonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certificationPerform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervisionAn outstanding commitment to quality and excellenceA willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and proceduresA positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team memberStrong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skillsThe ability to cope and thrive in a busy environmentSelf-initiative and problem-solving capabilitiesExceptional attention to detail and accuracyThis role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases.
