About the Role
This role will provide leadership to the Darebin Libraries Children and Youth team to deliver a safe and inclusive service to the community. You will lead the team to design, plan and deliver early years, middle years and youth programs to activate library spaces. The role leads the delivery of services to engage with children and young people from diverse backgrounds to positively connect with their local library and enhance their literacy levels, reading and social wellbeing needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead, motivate and develop the team to ensure a consistent community development approach to the delivery of children and youth programs.

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of literacy and learning services, programs and resources to enhance literacy levels in the community and provide opportunities for children and youth, their parents and carers to engage with library services.

• Design, plan and deliver a calendar of early years literacy, middle years, and youth programs and events to activate library spaces and engage with children, young people and carers.

• Develop and enhance collaborative partnerships with Council work units, primary and secondary education providers, children and youth focused organisations and learning providers to deliver a range of sustainable programs and services.

• Support branch leadership activities to ensure the delivery of customer service, resolution of operational and facility issues, and branch employee teamwork and communication.

• Monitor designated budgets and contracts, including making recommendations for budgets and initiatives in relation to area of responsibility.

• Work one evening shift per week and a minimum of one rostered Saturday and one rostered Sunday shift in each 8-week cycle.

• Have experience in the building, development and leading of teams, especially those located across difference locations.
