The Melbourne-based, Sales Manager - Major Customers position is a pivotal member of Strategic Account Sales team who is responsible for leading the implementation of sales objectives and strategies aimed at empowering a highly capable and agile team of strategic salespeople to cut through competitors, develop uncompromising business relationships, identify and win new business opportunities and generate stronger growth with our key customers.

The key focus and major component of the role is to be within the field actively leading the sales team as well as actively selling.


  • Implement the organisation's growth share of wallet strategy through the sales team ensuring alignment, engagement and maximum performance is achieved to meet sales targets
  • Provide strong direction and leadership to the sales team to maximise sales team effectiveness, capability and engagement
  • Drive and support the sales team in the effective pursuit of new business / sales leads and opportunities
  • Actively contribute to the analysis of business trends and the projection of market requirements, competitor activities and threats, and business development opportunities to increase revenue and profitability
  • Implement approved targeted marketing strategies to increase brand strength and awareness and drive competitors away
  • Ensure the effective implementation of innovative customer engagement solutions to maximise the customer service experience; ensuring a wellplanned, multifaceted and ongoing interaction is achieved across all key accounts and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrate Safety Leadership by leading and contributing to Coates Safety First
  • Zero Harm safety culture.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Relevant tertiary education is preferred
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in sales/major accounts management
  • Proven experience in leading a field sales force
  • Significant experience in strategic selling both personally and through others
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic account plans
