Job Description

If you're passionate about engineering in the maritime field and Australian sovereign capability, you've come to the right place We are an innovative team looking for individuals to join us on an exciting project focused on maritime autonomy technology. This role requires operational engineering skills and a design background emphasizing manufacturability. We value creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude towards challenges.

We are currently seeking a mid-career Naval Architect to contribute to our project on advanced marine autonomous systems. From early design stages to complex test events, this role offers a wide range of experiences.

Responsibilities include:

  • Platform design – focusing on structure, stability compliance, system arrangement, and performance
  • Mission systems integration – ensuring effective interface design and system deployment
  • Mechanical systems design and integration for autonomous vessels
  • Collaborating with partners on system development and physical interfaces
  • Managing weight distribution as part of the engineering team
  • Developing production engineering artifacts and overseeing build programs
  • Supporting commissioning activities and platform trials
  • Participating in system testing and performance evaluation
  • Sharing knowledge and experiences with the project team
  • Contributing to risk management processes and safety programs

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following qualities:

  • Degree in naval architecture
  • Experience in vessel design and integration
  • Proficiency in stability and motion analysis
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Accountability and a positive attitude

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in marine structure design
  • Knowledge of weight management processes
  • Adaptability and ability to problem solve
  • Experience in waterfront engineering or commissioning
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes
  • Professional Engineering credentials

Additional Information

Location: The project operates across Newcastle, Canberra, and East Melbourne. Flexible work arrangements are available.

Employment type: Permanent full-time position with various benefits and flexibility options.
