Job Summary

The role of an Assistant Store Manager is crucial within our store leadership team, influencing team members and guests' experiences daily. Assistant Store Managers lead and coach team members, ensure accountability for results, and deliver exceptional guest experiences. They also oversee administrative tasks, including floor management and scheduling.

Core Responsibilities of the Job

Leadership and People Management

  • Establish and nurture a respectful and inclusive team environment, embracing differences to create a supportive and engaging atmosphere for all team members and guests.
  • Assist the Store Manager in building a diverse and strong team with varying experiences, backgrounds, and skills to drive store operations.
  • Support continuous learning and development of team members through feedback, coaching, mentoring, and career guidance, addressing performance issues consistently and fairly.
  • Participate in the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes of the store.
  • Engage in career dialogues to help team members understand how their role at lululemon contributes to their personal and professional growth.
  • Recognize team members' achievements, identify areas for improvement, and document performance to encourage career development.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to create and manage team schedules based on labor requirements, availability, and budget constraints.

Working with Others

  • Cultivate supportive and productive relationships with all team members, focusing on their personal and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure an outstanding guest experience that prioritizes guests' time and supports store operations.

Guest Experience

  • Guide team members in offering a stellar guest experience by providing product education, addressing guest needs, and supporting in-store transactions and omnichannel programs.
  • Be proactive on the sales floor to meet the demands of the business, team, and guests.
  • Resolve guest feedback and handle urgent matters, ensuring guest satisfaction and fostering positive relationships within the community.
  • Boost brand visibility and community integration by nurturing inclusive relationships with partners, influencers, and diverse community resources.
  • Establish and maintain local partnerships with ambassadors, sweat leaders, and external collaborators to enhance guest and team interactions.

Operations

  • Execute the Store Manager's vision for the store and relay it to team members.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to analyze business data and metrics for informed decision-making and planning processes such as business reviews and sales strategies.
  • Assist the Store Manager in overseeing the store's budget, labor allocation, expenses, and financial statements.
  • Provide leadership on the sales floor, ensuring efficient operations by planning coverage and making strategic decisions.
  • Open and close the store following the designated checklists.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Conduct work in compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and laws.

Budget Responsibility

  • Responsible for specific aspects of the budget or labor hours as delegated.

People Management

  • Take on a leadership role, indirectly supervising a portion of store employees during shifts or as directed by the Store Manager.

Job Requirements

Eligibility

  • Authorized to work in the store's jurisdiction where assigned.

Availability

  • Flexible availability is a must.

Other Willingness Requirements

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when needed
  • Willingness to remain active in the store for most of the shift to assist guests and complete tasks.

Experience

  • Prior experience in leadership or people management

Job Assets (i.e., nice to have; not required)

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience: 1 year of retail or sales-specific management experience
