About the Opportunity

You will play a pivotal role aboard the ASRV, leading the Integrated Ratings and ensuring that deck operations are carried out in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule. Your work will be crucial in maintaining the vessel's safety and operational readiness. Working closely with the Chief Mate and other department heads, you will ensure seamless coordination and efficiency across all onboard activities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and allocating tasks to Integrated Ratings and supporting personnel.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, maintenance, and operational standards.
  • Supervising cargo operations, including loading, discharging, and securing.
  • Contributing to the ship's safety and emergency response teams.

You are a proactive, reliable leader known for your ability to manage complex maritime operations with clarity and efficiency. Your leadership style fosters a positive working environment where strategic priorities are translated into operational success. You are adept at managing diverse teams and facilitating effective communication across departments.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • AMSA issued Certificate of Proficiency or Certificate of Recognition as Chief Integrated Rating
  • Security Awareness Training
  • Advanced Firefighting (AFF) Certificate
  • Certificate of proficiency in Survival Craft
  • Right to work in Australia (and on an Australian flagged vessel)
  • AMSA Certificate of medical fitness
  • Polar Medical – organised if successful
  • Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
  • Proven ability as a safety leader
  • Proven leadership qualities with the ability to influence, delegate and think clearly under pressure
  • Advanced competency and skills in MS office and other business applications.

This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment as an essential selection component for this role.

You must have a Permanent Resident of Australia and be willing to undergo an AAD Polar Medical Examination.

We have an agreement in principle for a new EA covering this role. The rates in the new agreement will be significantly higher than in the current agreement and will apply to your role once the new agreement is approved.
