About The Role

SA Water is seeking a Payroll Manager to manage a highly efficient and compliant payroll function and will bring a new perspective and drive innovation and process improvement. About You

As the Payroll Manager, you will be a dynamic leader with a talent for building high-performing, collaborative teams that achieve organisational goals. Using your advanced communication and interpersonal skills, you influence and inspire your team, fostering strong relationships and ensuring safety.

You thrive under pressure, exercising sound judgement and decision making, and effectively use your negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills to work towards optimal outcomes. Your expertise in managing payroll services ensures accuracy, compliance, and swift resolution of complex issues, while you also identify system improvements, enhance security, and contribute to business initiatives.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Relationship Building: Foster strong, constructive relationships with the team and peers to achieve business goals and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, emphasizing a culture of service excellence.
  • Payroll Expertise: Provide timely and accurate advice on complex payroll matters and oversee end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Troubleshooting and Training: Act as the escalation point for payroll issues, offering guidance and support. Maintain up-to-date training materials and ensure the team is well-versed in operating guidelines.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance. Generate accurate payroll reports, provide insights for strategic decision-making, and manage tax obligations.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field (HR/Business/Finance).
  • Extensive and demonstrated experience in payroll functions and services.
  • A thorough understanding of payroll related legal compliance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR information systems - (e.g., Chris21, Timewise) – Highly Desirable.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in project management, automation, continuous improvement and simplification in payroll processes and processing.
  • Prior demonstrated experience in leading teams and working within project teams to drive business outcomes.
