About You


The Portfolio Analyst is responsible for providing support and analysis on RMIT's investment project portfolio to Senior Managers across PGP and the Project Management community.

This includes appropriate use of RMIT's Project Delivery Framework (including project delivery and reporting artefacts, processes, and best practices).

This role also co-ordinates with Sub-Portfolio Management Offices (e.g. IT; Property Services) on the timely submission of project funding and variation requests to various forums for approval.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a PMO or project portfolio management function preferred
  • Experience in analysing and reporting project and portfolio information, including financial data
  • Experience in managing records on a centralised project portfolio dbase
  • Understanding of project delivery including schedules, budgets, benefits, risks, issues, and health
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and PMO processes
  • Capable of engaging a broad group of stakeholders at multiple organisational levels
  • Able to use data and insights to influence stakeholder decisions and outcomes
  • Strong communication and business writing skills
  • Keen attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
About the Portfolio

The Operations Portfolio enables an integrated, enterprise-wide delivery for best practice student and staff experiences.

The Operations Portfolio provides IT, Property, Procurement, Business Process Improvement, Marketing, Project and Communications Services to the University to effectively and efficiently deliver RMIT's strategic objectives across the globe.


The Operations Portfolio incorporates the following business units: Portfolio Governance and Performance ("PGP"), Communications, Global Marketing & Student Recruitment, Human Resources, Information and Technology Services (ITS), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Planning and Operational Excellence, Procurement and Property Services Group (PSG).

Each of these functions supports the global operations of the University both directly as well as through its controlled entities.


PGP is a key strategic function within Operations and is responsible for RMIT's strategic investment portfolio ensuring alignment with the University's strategy, assuring the delivery of expected outcomes and benefits, and building project management capability across the University.

It provides an enterprise view of strategic change, risk and dependencies, and supports Vice-Chancellor's Executive (VCE) and Council's oversight of the strategic investment portfolio and projects.

PGP also provides advisory services to ensure the effective initiation and governance of projects across the University.


The PGP team is a small, dynamic team of experts that have a breadth of capability and experience underpinned by deep specialist knowledge.
