Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship

The Opportunity

MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees has once again partnered with Bengalla Mining Company for its successful annual apprenticeship intake. As a Plant Mechanic Apprentice at Bengalla Mining Company, you will receive mentorship from qualified tradespeople over a four-year period developing mechanical knowledge and skills within the mining industry.

Your responsibilities will include maintenance, inspections, repairs, and servicing of mining machinery, as well as fuelling mobile and fixed plant machinery like dump trucks, dozers, water carts, and excavators. Your role will be crucial for the continuous operation of assets on a 24/7 open cut mine site.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will attain a nationally accredited qualification, AUR31220 Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.

About You

We are looking for motivated candidates with mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills who aim for a long-term career in the mining industry. Having a Certificate II pre-vocational qualification in the automotive/mechanical field or related work experience is advantageous. Additional requirements include:

  • Residency in Muswellbrook, Scone, or Denman LGAs
  • Valid driver's license or learner's permit
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Mathematical aptitude with a minimum Year 10 completion
  • Comfortable with heights and physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Commitment to quality work, reliability, and passion for the trade
  • Willingness to complete all study requirements and pass relevant screenings

About Bengalla Mining Company

Bengalla Mining Company contributes to the upper Hunter Valley by creating jobs and supporting the local community through its open-cut mine operations. Apprentices undergo a six-month Mining Skills Program to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
